A tour of mkv

Every part of mkv answers a question you have while an agent works. Each window below is live: press its button and watch what mkv does.

What changed?

Agents rewrite documents while you read. mkv makes every change easy to see, and easy to come back to.

The glow

When a file is saved, the passages that changed glow amber and fade over five seconds. You see what the agent did without comparing anything.

Since you looked

Documents that changed while you were away get a dot in Files, and their folders a count. Go > Next opens the newest at its first change, with what is new glowing.

⌘J next change, ⇧⌘J the oldest

Changes and the Change Ruler

Turn on Changes to see the old text struck through above the new, added passages marked green and removed ones red. The Change Ruler down the right edge shows where every change is; click a mark to go to it.

⌘4 Changes

Where was I?

A long plan is a place. mkv keeps you in it while the text moves, and shows you the way around.

Your place, kept

When an agent adds text above the line you are reading, the page grows above you and your line stays exactly where it was. You never lose your place to an edit.

Outline and Links

The inspector shows the document's headings to jump between, and its links: what it links to, what links to it, and ⇄ where both are true.

⌃⌘L Links, ⌃⌘I Info

The Graph

See the whole folder at once: every document a point, every link a line, folders gathered together. Click a document to see what it is; double-click to read it.

⌃⌘G Graph

What do I think?

Reading is half the work. The other half is telling the agent what you think, on the passage you mean.

Comments to the agent

Select words and press ⇧⌘K. Write your comment and send it: mkv hands it to the agent writing that document, which answers and makes the change. Or keep it as a note for yourself.

Then choose Send, and wait a moment for the agent.

Copy for Agent

Select passages and press ⇧⌘C. You get the Markdown as written, headed by its path and lines, ready to paste into any agent's prompt.

Read it your way, and pass it on

The same document as a page, as the Markdown the agent wrote, or as HTML; in the theme that suits it; aloud; or as a file to send.

Read, Source and HTML

Three lenses on one document: the page, its Markdown with line numbers, and the HTML mkv made of it. Your place stays as you switch.

⌘1 ⌘2 ⌘3

The properties card

Front matter shows as a card of properties, exactly as written: status, owner, tags. If the YAML breaks a rule, mkv shows where and why rather than guessing.

Read Aloud

Listen to a plan on the way to a meeting. mkv reads in your Mac's own voices, from where you are, and follows along on the page.

⌥⌘R Read Aloud

Your browser's voice stands in for the Mac's here.

Eight themes

Default, Paper, Calm, Journal, Studio, Brief, Blueprint and Terminal, each in light and dark, and your own CSS on top. Exports and printing follow the theme.

PDF and HTML to send

File > Export makes a paginated PDF, a single-page PDF as long as the document, or one HTML file with its styles and images inside it. Maths and diagrams come too.

⇧⌘E Export as PDF
